The Ultimate Fighter 3 contestant Jesse Forbes is returning to the UFC and will likely replace injured teammate Steve Steinbeiss and square off against fellow middleweight Nick Catone on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 20 on January 11 in Fairfax, Virginia, according to MMAjunkie.
Forbes (10-3) left the UFC after losing to Matt Hamill at The Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale in 2006, but has gone 11-2 since, including a current five-fight winning streak. “Kid Hercules,” who trains at Arizona Combat Sports with the likes of Steinbeiss, Ryan Bader, and Jamie Varner, recently signed with upstart Shine Fights, but was reportedly released to re-sign with the UFC.
Catone (7-2) signed with the UFC after a 6-0 start to his career, including a win over notable John Howard, and scored a second-round submission of Derek Downey in his Octagon debut in February, but has since dropped back-to-back bouts to Tim Credeur and Mark Munoz.
UFC Fight Night 20 is headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Gray Maynard and the Spike TV-televised main card also features Evan Dunham vs. Efrain Escudero, Tom Lawlor vs. Aaron Simpson, and Brad Blackburn vs. Amir Sadollah.
