Magny frustrated Gastelum early on with his reach and clinch game, and clearly won the opening two rounds of the bout. After a competitive round three, Gastelum dropped Magny twice in round four, and went on to win round five. Ultimately two of the judges scored the opening three rounds in Magny’s favor, however, and the welterweight handed Gastelum his second defeat.
In the co-headliner, the overall game of Ricardo Lamas proved to be too much for Diego Sanchez, despite the latter’s ridiculous toughness. Lamas kept Sanchez guessing throughout the bout by mixing in strikes with takedowns. The featherweight contender also battered the legs of Sanchez with kicks.
By the end of the fight, Sanchez was having considerable trouble moving, and Lamas was awarded the UD win.
