WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will defend the 145-pound title for the first time against former champion Urijah Faber, WEC General Manager Reed Harris announced at Sunday’s post-WEC 46 press conference.
With the dust still settling from the Versus-televised event in Sacramento, California, which was headlined by Ben Henderson’s submission of Jamie Varner to become the undisputed lightweight champion, a date and location haven’t set for the contest, but no matter when and where it takes place, it could headline the WEC’s first pay-per-view card.
“I think that as we move towards [pay-per-view], [Aldo vs. Faber] would be a great pay-per-view,” said Harris. “I think the fans would pay to see that fight.
“We need to do more than one good fight on that card,” Harris continued. “We want to put together a card where people are basically saying they cannot miss it.”
