Coming off arguably the best performance of his career, Canadian striker Sam Stout will likely take on lightweight slugger Jeremy Stephens at UFC 113 on May 1 in Montreal, with MMAjunkie reporting that the pair have agreed to the contest.
Following back-to-back losses to Rich Clementi and Terry Etim in 2008, Stout (15-5) has rebounded with victories over Matt Wiman last April and Joe Lauzon earlier this month, winning “Fight of the Night” honors for both bouts.
Stephens suffered losses to Joe Lauzon in Gleison Tibau in early-2009 before bouncing back with a “Knockout of the Night” of Justin Buchholz due to cuts at UFC Fight Night 19 in September. “Lil’ Heathen” had been scheduled to return to action tonight at UFC Fight Night 20, but was forced to withdraw from the event due to a cut.
UFC 113 has yet to be officially announced, but is expected to be headlined by the rematch between UFC light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
