UFC on FOX 17: Prelims Play-By-Play And Results

The UFC’s final event for 2015 is under way in Orlando, Florida, and you can catch play-by-play action for the prelims below.

Francis Ngannou def. Luiz Henrique via KO (punches) R2, 2:53

Vicente Luque def. Hayder Hassan via submission (anaconda choke) R1, 2:13

Kamaru Usman def. Leon Edwards via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)

Jim Alers vs. Cole Miller

Round 1: Both featherweights exchange leg kicks. Nice jab from Miller. Alers keeping busy with leg kicks. Both men wing big punches. Side kick from Alers. Another hard jab from Miller. Alers fires a nice counter right. Miller comes with a front kick. Alers charges forward but Miller counters. Axe kick attempt from latter. Nice hook from Miller. Alers eats another stiff jab. Now Alers clinches up. Miller fires an elbow in. Round ends.

Round 2: Doctor is checking cut by left eye of Alers in between rounds. Alers is keeping busy with leg kicks. Another left hook from Alers lands. Miller is pressing forward more. Latter fires in a kick and  hook to the body. Ugh. Miller takes a finger to the eye. Nasty. Miller is heard saying he doesn’t need more time because he won’t be able to open his eye. Fight’s over. Unfortunate end.

Jim Alers vs. Cole Miller declared no contest (Miller could not continue due to accidental eye poke) R2, 1:44

Danny Castillo vs. Nik Lentz

Round 1: Lentz throws a leg kick a few moments in, goes for the clinch, but Castillo pushes away. Castillo is flicking out the jab. Latter changes levels but can’t get the TD. Wow. Lentz with a highlight reel throw. Nice. Castillo gets to half guard and then to his feet. Lentz is looking for a guillotine. Castillo works his way out and is in top position. Lentz slaps on another guillotine but this time Castillo quickly pops out. Castillo momentarily went for a side choke but Lentz had guard. Action’s back up. Castillo looks tired. Nice combo from Castillo. Latter with another hard hook. Lentz clinches up. Round ends.

Round 2: Castillo fires a leg kick. Head kick attempt from Castillo. Lentz charges in but takes a right. Hard leg kick from Castillo. Lentz plants a nice body kick. Lentz flurries in but nothing lands. Lentz cracks Castillo with a nice right and left, gets the TD. Castillo gets back to his feet. Castillo goes for a trip but can’t get it. Castillo clinches up. Lentz drops to his back looking for a guillotine but Castillo immediately pops his head out. Castillo combos. Lentz digs hard to the body with a left. Castillo fires a head kick and a left. Round ends.

Round 3: Lentz charges in. Castillo sticks a couple of jabs. Wow. Castillo goes for a TD but Lentz reverses beautifully with a throw. Castillo gets back up. Latter plants a left, and shoots a double leg. Lentz gets to his feet but takes a knee to the head. Lentz takes an eye poke but wants to continue. Castillo gets a warning to watch his fingers. Castillo shoots another TD, but Lentz gets right back to his feet. They clinch up. Lentz looks for a trip but can’t get it. Castillo looks very tired. Round ends.

Nik Lentz def. Danny Castillo via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27)

Tamdan McCrory vs. Josh Samman

Round 1: Samman fires a hard kick to begin the fight but McCrory takes him down. Samman is against the cage and gets back to his feet. McCrory with a knee to the body. Samman reverses and takes McCrory to the mat. Samman is in half guard. McCrory gets guard. McCrory is looking for an armbar. Samman defends but McCrory counters with a triangle-choke. Wow. Crazy scrambling on the floor. Samman is back on top. McCrory uses a kimura to sweep and takes his back. Nicely done. McCrory is attacking left arm of Samman but latter gets out. Samman cracks McCrory with a left from above. They get back to their feet. Round ends. Great round.

Round 2: Samman fires some kicks to begin the round but misses. Samman pushes him to the cage and gets the TD. Samman throws some punches from above. McCrory is looking for an omoplata but Samman defends. Nice. McCrory sweeps and takes the back. Samman rolls to his back. McCrory fires down some punches from above. Nice elbows from McCrory. More strikes from McCrory. Samman is firing back elbows from below. McCrory passes into halfguard and is looking for a kimura. Round ends.

Round 3: McCrory fires a headkick but Samman blocks it. Latter rushes in and pushes McCrory to the cage. McCrory uses a nice whizzer and gets top position. Elbow from McCrory. Now McCrory comes with some hard punches. More shots from McCrory. Samman needs to get up and out and fast. Just like that, Samman reverses. McCrory goes for an omoplata and now he’s hunting for a triangle. Beautifully done. Samman is in a ton of trouble. Wow. Samman taps. What a huge win for McCrory in his Octagon return.

Sarah Kaufman vs. Valentina Shevchenko

Round 1: Kaufman fires a leg kick and Shevchenko responds with punches. Kaufman comes in but Shevchenko counters. Kaufman clinches up. Both women fire knees. Action spills to the floor. Shevchenko is on top and gets back to her feet. Kaufman clinches up but Shevchenko trips her to the ground. Kaufman eats a punch as she gets back to her feet. Body kick from Shevchenko. Kaufman drops and is looking for a heel hook. Shevchenko gets out. Hard elbow from Shevchenko. Another one. Round ends.

Round 2: Shevchenko goes for a spinning backfist. Shevchenko fires in a hard right as Kaufman moves forward. Latter clinches up. Shevchenko reverses and pushes Kaufman to the cage. Latter works her way out. Shevchenko scores another throw and is on top. Kaufman chucks in some elbows from the bottom. Shevchenko gets up and out. Spinning backfist attempt from the latter. Kaufman pushes Shevchenko to the cage. Round ends.

Round 3: They clinch up, scramble on the ground, and get back to their feet. Shevchenko trips Kaufman to the mat but latter gets back up. Kaufman trips Shevchenko to the floor and gets sidemount. Elbows from Kaufman. Latter briefly looks for an armlock. Elbow from Kaufman to the legs of Shevchenko. More elbows from Kaufman. Kaufman moves into the mount and fires down some shots. Shevchenko gets out right before the round ends.

Valentina Shevchenko def. Sarah Kaufman via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

C.B. Dollaway vs. Nate Marquardt

Round 1:  Dollaway lands a leg kick. Dollaway throws a kick to the body that’s blocked. Hard leg kick from Dollaway. Both men stick jabs. Dollaway misses with a right and takes a kick to the body. Marquardt lands a leg kick. Not a ton of volume. Dollaway flurries in and tags Marquardt with a hard left. Marquardt returns with a leg kick. Marquardt plants a right hook to the head. Knee from Marquardt to the body. Both middleweights fire rights. Round ends.

Round 2: Dollaway comes out aggressively. Unbelievable. Dollaway charges in and gets crushed with a booming right hand. Dollaway is out. Classy move by Marquardt–could have followed up with another right but didn’t since Dollaway was out. Huge win for Marquardt.

Nate Marquardt def. C.B. Dollaway via KO (punch) R2, 0:28

Myles Jury vs. Charles Oliveira

Round 1: Jury lands a leg kick. Oliveira fires a front kick. Oliveira comes with a couple of nice leg kicks. Jury throws a kick but gets taken to the mat. Oliveira takes Jury’s back in a scramble. Jury gets to his feet but Oliveira slaps on a guillotine choke. Wow. Jury taps. Impressive win for Oliveira.
