Bobby Lashley “Definitely Not” Fighting Jimmy Ambriz at “Strikeforce: Miami,” Opponent Still Not Determined

Heavyweight up-and-comer Bobby Lashley remains without an opponent for his upcoming Strikeforce debut, which is scheduled to take place at “Strikeforce: Miami” on January 30 in Sunrise, Florida.

After the Florida State Boxing Commission turned down a matchup between Lashley and Yohan Banks on Thursday, saying the bout was “not competitive”, Lashley was rumored to fight super heavyweight Jimmy Ambriz at the Showtime-televised event. However, Ariel Helwani reported Friday afternoon that Lashley would “definitely not” be fighting Ambriz, and that an opponent has yet to be determined.

Lashley (4-0) made his MMA debut in late-2008 with a first-round TKO of Joshua Franklin, then improved to 4-0 in 2009 with wins over Jason Guida, Mike Cook, and Bob Sapp.

Strikeforce: Miami is headlined by Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis for Strikeforce’s welterweight title and 135-pound women’s champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Marloes Coenen, and also features Robbie Lawler vs. Melvin Manhoef and Herschel Walker vs. Greg Nagy.
