The controversial result of an October 3 matchup between UWC bantamweight champion Mike Easton and challenger Chase Beebe, scored a split decision win for Easton, was upheld this week after a review by the Virginia athletic commission.
The bout, which headlined UWC 7 at the Partiot Center in Fairfax, Virginia, ended in controversy when the local favortite Easton was declared the winner despite Beebe seemingly clearly winning at least three of the fight’s five round, according to most observers.
According to Sherdog, Virginia’s Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (athletic commission) “investigated the circumstances surrounding the fight and determined they do not warrant further review. The investigation concluded judges Brian Cunningham and Brian Costello gave the nod to Easton for reasons that fall within the scope of state regulations.”
