Frankie Edgar isn’t happy that it looks like Conor McGregor will take on Rafael dos Anjos next, but the featherweight contender has weighed-in on the expected match-up.

Unless you’ve been under a rock, you know the MMA world is awaiting on confirmation from the UFC that McGregor will battle RDA on March 5th. Since Edgar took out Chad Mendes last month he’s been driving hard for a title fight with McGregor, but it looks like that’s not going to pan out. Not yet at least.

Well, since it’s been reported that RDA – McGregor is planned, the LA Times spoke with Edgar to get his thoughts. When asked to weigh-in on the match-up, here’s what Edgar had to say:

“It’s not an easy matchup for McGregor,” Edgar said. “Dos Anjos brings a lot of pressure. He’s a bigger guy, has world-class jiujitsu. His wrestling is phenomenal as of late, and he has power in his hands and kicks. I definitely lean toward him, but I thought Aldo would’ve done a lot better, too, so you never know in this game.

“Conor feels himself, believes in himself, and that’s what we’re supposed to do as fighters. He has a reason to do so.”

There you go. It’s a view a lot of people seem to share so far, although, as Edgar noted, McGregor has proved his doubters wrong before.

The former lightweight champ was also asked about his plans, in light of this recent development. Edgar is reportedly heading out to Las Vegas this week to meet with the UFC brass and discuss what’s next.

Edgar still wants to face McGregor in that big money fight, but he’s also concerned about waiting on the sidelines. If something happens, and the bout with McGregor gets postponed again, Edgar will have gone awhile without a check.
