Many people believe Chad Mendes exposed deficiencies in the wrestling game of Conor McGregor, and according to Frankie Edgar, the UFC has hired a top level coach to help the featherweight champ out…

McGregor is scheduled to fight Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 197 on March 5th. A lot of folks have speculated that if RDA can get McGregor to the ground, the fighter’s winning streak will be in some serious jeopardy. Of course, if McGregor fights Edgar at some point, his takedown defense will also be tested.

Well, recently Edgar spoke to Elite, and during the interview he discussed the wrestling aspect of McGregor’s game.

“I’m sure he’s working on it. He better be. The UFC hired [Olympic gold medalist] Jordan Burroughs to be his wrestling coach. He knows that’s his weakness. It’s not something you learn overnight, especially wrestling. It’s a feel-type of sport, takes time.”

It will be fascinating to see what plays out in RDA – McGregor, and McGregor – Edgar, if the latter goes down.
