Wisconsin Adopts MMA Regulation; UFC Visit Likely In The Next Year

The state of Wisconsin joined a list of 42 others in regulating MMA, Thursday as Governor Jim Doyle signed Senate Bill 290.

The bill had passed the States Assembly with a vote of 96-0 on Wednesday, then an amendment added by the assembly cleared the states Senate with a 36-1 vote, bringing the bill to the governor’s desk.

The UFC’s Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Ratner was on hand for the signing and afterwards told that the UFC would be looking to bring an event to the state, “before the end of the year or early first quarter of 2011.” He further indicated that Milwaukee is likely the top choice, but other locations including Madison and Green Bay were also under consideration.
