Donald Cerrone’s Staying at 170, Scrapping Patrick Cote Next

Donald Cerrone

Donald Cerrone appeared to like competing at 170 pounds just fine in February, and the perennial, lightweight contender has been tapped for another welterweight scrap.

Yes, the UFC has confirmed that Cerrone will throw down with rugged vet, Patrick Cote, at UFC Fight Night 89. That event will take place on June 18th in Ottawa, Ontario.

Cerrone (29-7) faced Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 83 last month, and scored a first round, submission win. The fight went down at 170 pounds. The Jackson-Wink MMA fighter was taken out by lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos before that.

Cote (23-9) also earned a victory in his last bout, as he stopped Ben Saunders at UFC FN 81 in January. The Canadian star has won three straight fights.

So, there you go. Who doesn’t want to see that fight?

UFC FN 89 will feature Rory MacDonald battling fellow welterweight contender Stephen Thompson in the headliner.
