Wanderlei Silva vs. Michael Bisping UFC 110 Winner Fights Yoshihiro Akiyama Next

The winner of the upcoming middleweight matchup between Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping, which headlines UFC 110 on February 21 in Sydney, Australia, is likely to fight Yoshihiro Akiyama in their next bout, according to Fighters Only.

Akiyama had been scheduled to fight Silva early this year, possibly in the UFC 110 main event, but the UFC scrapped the bout for unknown reasons and instead booked Silva to fight Bisping.

The Japanese judoka Akiyama (13-1) made his UFC debut last July with a split decision over Alan Belcher at UFC 100, earning “Fight of the Night” honors in his 12th-straight victory (with two no contests).

Silva (32-10-1) heads to middleweight in an effort to turn things around after losing back-to-back bouts to Rich Franklin and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and 5 of his last 6 fights.

Bisping (18-2) rebounded from a knockout loss to Dan Henderson with a second-round TKO of Denis Kang in November, improving his UFC record to 8-2.
