UFC 198: Anderson Silva is Off Card Due to Illness, Legend Could Require Surgery

Anderson Silva

UFC 198 will feature many of Brazil’s biggest stars, but unfortunately, it will no longer include the legendary Anderson Silva.

Recently Yahoo Sports reported that Silva has been forced out of his bout with Uriah Hall, due to what may beĀ acute cholecystitis. Silva has been experiencing pain in his abdomen, and could require gall bladder surgery as a result.

The UFC has confirmed that Silva will no longer fight at the May 14th card, and that they’re looking for a new opponent for Hall.

The 41 year-old Silva is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Michael Bisping in February. That bout marked the first time the former middleweight champ had fought since last January, when Silva battled Nick Diaz.

So, obviously this is very unfortunate news. Silva – Hall had the makings of something special. Here’s hoping Silva makes a speedy recovery.

Saturday’s card will take place in Curitiba, Brazil, and will feature heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum taking on Stipe Miocic.
