UFC bantamweight Valentina Shevchenko has been involved in a terrifying incident, not far out from a scheduled, July 23rd bout with Holly Holm.

According to a report from El Comercio, Shevchenko was at a chicken restaurant in Lima, Peru, on Sunday, when a robbery turned into a shootout. Robbers reportedly assaulted several customers during the incident, and as they were fleeing, Shevchenko’s coach, Pavel Fedotov, opened fire on the thieves. Another customer was reportedly armed as well and also shot at the robbers.

One of the thieves was killed during the incident, while Fedotov and a customer were shot in the exchange. Fedotov was shot in the abdomen and remains in hospital. The other customer is reportedly recovering from their injuries.

Shevchenko move to Peru in 2008 from her native Kyrgistan.
