UFC 199: Michael Bisping Quickly Scores Upset Win, Dominick Cruz Takes Rubber Match With Urijah Faber

Michael Bisping

Michael Bisping said it was his destiny to defeat Luke Rockhold and become the UFC’s middleweight champ, and the perennial contender needed less than one round to fulfill his dream.

After a couple of fairly uneventful minutes, Bisping sent Rockhold crashing to the mat with a big left hook. The latter was able to get back to his feet, but was quickly put down again by another, left hand. After Bisping tossed in a couple more punches the bout was brought to a halt, handing the British star the 185 title. With the victory, Bisping avenged a submission loss to Rockhold that took place in 2014.

Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz demonstrated once again why most consider him to be the greatest 135’er of all time, as he worked his way to a clear cut, UD win over Urijah Faber. The latter was floored by Cruz early on into the bout, and after that, he had trouble hitting the champ for the rest of the fight. Cruz was awarded the unanimous decision win.

Dan Henderson electrified fans at the Los Angeles Forum, as the legendary fighter scored a vicious, KO win over Hector Lombard. Both men stunned the other in the opening round with big punches, and it looked like for a few moments Henderson was headed for the loss.

The 45 year-old wonder made it out of the round, however, and proceeded to finish Lombard with a headkick and follow up elbows in round two.
