Junior dos Santos Sees “More Danger” For Brock Lesnar in Scrap With Mark Hunt

Now that Brock Lesnar and Mark Hunt are booked to fight at UFC 200, the MMA world’s weighing in on who’s going to take it, and it sounds like Junior dos Santos is going with the latter…

On Saturday, the UFC buzzed combat sports fans by announcing that Lesnar is returning to the Octagon on July 9th. Then, on Monday, Lesnar confirmed that his opponent will be Hunt.

Recently dos Santos spoke with MMA, and while discussing the match-up, the former heavyweight champ said this:

“I think Lesnar will obviously try to get close and take him down and take the fight where he’s strongest,” said Dos Santos, who was supposed to fight Lesnar back in 2011, but the latter had to withdraw due to diverticulitis. “He is very fast on the ground for his size. But Hunt is a very tough guy, with super heavy hands.

“It’s a dangerous fight for both, but I see more danger for Lesnar. Hunt is not just a skilled fighter; he knows how to knock people out. He’s got that timing. So when you fight a guy like him you have to be very careful because you can get knocked out at any minute.”

This is true. JDS was largely able to avoid the massive and heavy hands of Hunt when they fought in 2013, and took him out with a spinning hook kick (I’m sure you haven’t forgotten that finish). But so many others, most recently men like Frank Mir and “Bigfoot” Silva haven’t been so lucky.

Considering how long Lesnar’s been out of the cage, and that Hunt continues to be one of the most terrifying strikers in the game, many likely believe he’ll win on July 9th.  But, if Lesnar can get Hunt to the ground and record a win, it won’t be long before people start talking about a title run. You know it’s true…

UFC 200 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
