WEC 47 Salaries: Joseph Benavidez, Miguel Torres Top Payroll

Joseph BenavidezBantamweight contender Joseph Benavidez was the top earner for Saturday’s WEC 47, scoring $29,000 for his upset victory over former champ Miguel Torres in the card’s co-headliner, according to the Ohio Athletic Commission, who released the official WEC 47 salaries on Monday.

Torres pocketed $26,000 for his efforts, while Dominick Cruz claimed $18,000 for his main event win over former title-holder Brian Bowles, who earned $12,000.

The total disclosed payroll for WEC 47 was $236,500.

  • Dominick Cruz ($18,000 – includes $9,000 win bonus) def. Brian Bowles ($12,000)
  • Joseph Benavidez ($29,000 – $14,500 win bonus) def. Miguel Torres ($26,000)

In addition to the salaries listed above, which are simply those disclosed by the promotion to the athletic commission and not representative of a fighter’s total earnings, Garcia, Roop, Pettis, and Benavidez each took home $10,000 “fight night” bonuses for their performances at WEC 47.
