UFC FN 91: Results And Main Card Play-By-Play


UFC Fight Night 91 is underway in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and in the main event, Michael McDonald will throw down with John Lineker. That’s a bantamweight fight you don’t want to miss.

Louis Smolka def. Ben Nguyen via TKO (strikes) R2, 4:41

Kyle Noke vs Keita Nakamura

Round 1: Noke cracks Nakamura with a hard jab ,right out of the gate, which stuns him. Another stiff jab from Noke. Nakamura comes with a front kick. Noke returns the favor. Wow. Nakamura goes high with a kick that grazes Noke and follows up with a nice right. Nakamura flurries in but Noke takes him down. Nakamura pops back to his feet. Noke fires in a backfist. Both men are keeping busy. Nakamura plants a left. Noke responds with a head kick. Round ends.

Round 2: Nakamura flurries and follows up with a TD attempt, but Noke defends. Nakamura is doing just fine in the stand-up department. Noke sticks another jab. Nakamura looks for the TD again but can’t get it. Nakamura counters a leg kick with a left. Wow. Nakamura charges in and lands a couple of hard shots. Noke gets the TD. Nakamura works his way back up. Wow. He rocks Noke with a knee and is pouring down shots. Nakamura tries to lock -up the RNC. Unbelievable. Noke taps with one second left. What a win for Nakamura.

Aleksei Oleinik vs Daniel Omielanczuk 

Round 1: Oleinik comes out, chucks some big shots, and pushes Omielanczuk  to the cage. Oleinik gets the TD. Omielanczuk is trying to get back up but Oleinik is doing his best to prevent that. Oleinik passes into mount. Latter throws some elbows. Hammer fists from Oleinik. Omielanczuk  finally gets back to his feet, but Oleinik takes him right back down.  Round ends.

Round 2: Omielanczuk  comes out and tags Oleinik with a big punch. Oleinik slips to the floor and is cut. Oleinik drops back and is looking for a heelhook. Wow. Oleinik takes top position. Omielanczuk  reverses. Hard elbow from Omielanczuk. Oleinik works his way out and has Omielanczuk  against the cage. Both men are on their feet. Omielanczuk cracks Oleinik with a hard left hook. Oleinik charges in and is looking for the TD. He gets it. Oleinik moves into mount and then rolls for an armbar as Omielanczuk turns over. Oleinik is working a triangle-choke now. Round ends.

Round 3: Oleinik is badly bruised by his right eye. Latter shoots in. Oleinik can’t get it and Omielanczuk  is on top. Not much going on. Ref stands them up. Omielanczuk plants an uppercut but Oleinik pushes him to the cage. Oleinik scores yet another TD. Omielanczuk  gives up his back while trying to get back up. Oleinik winds up on the bottom as they work. Ref stands them up. Omielanczuk  cracks a blooded Oleinik with another left. Final horn goes.

Tim Boetsch vs Josh Samman

Round 1: Boetsch throws a front kick that Samman counters with a TD attempt. Boetsch defends and the clinch up against the cage. Nice sweep from Boetsch. Latter fires in a couple of shots but Samman is doing a good job of defending. Samman pops back up. Samman comes in and pushes Boetsch to the cage. Latter turns and Samman climbs on his back. Boetsch shrugs him off. Samman’s still working for a takedown. They break. Samman eats a left. Hard leg kick from Boetsch. Both guys land punches. Boetsch flurriees. Samman misses with a head kick. Round ends.

Round 2: Boetsch charges in with a flurry. Samman fires a headkick and follow up punch, but Boetsch catches a body kick and takes him down. Samman tries to get up but Boetsch pushes him back down. Latter is in half guard. Elbows to the thigh from Boetsch. Now he’s working a kimura. Boetsch gives it up and lands some hard punches from above. Wow. Boetsch is piling on the shots now. Hard elbow from Boetsch. And another. More punches from Boetsch. That’s it. Huge upset win for Boetsch.

Tony Ferguson vs Lando Vannata

Round 1: Vannata  plants a right and just misses with a front kick. Nice spinning kick to the body by Vannata.  They exchange strikes and Ferguson complains of a low blow. Hard body kick from Ferguson. Latter sticks a jab which momentarily puts Vannata on his back. Wow. Vannata cracks Ferguson with a spinning backfist which stunds him. Vannata bombs Ferguson with another shot but eats a spinning backfist as well.This is nuts. Fantastic action. Ferguson plants a right. Vannata is trying to lay traps by keeping his hands down but is getting hit. Latter may be tiring. Hard right hand from Ferguson. Vannata eats a left. What! Ferguson gets decked by a headkick and he’s hurt. Ferguson rolls for a leglock in the ensuing scramble. This is unbelievable. Now Vannata is on top. Ferguson goes for an armbar but Vannat’s out. Round ends.

Round 2: Hard, hard jab from Ferguson.  Ferguson with front kicks. Another jab from Ferguson. Vannata just misses with a headkick. Ferguson cracks Vannata with a right and his nose is all bloodied up. Now Ferguson is working a guillotine. Ferguson drops down and moves into a D’arce. That’s it. What a debut for Vannata.

Michael McDonald  vs John Lineker

Round 1: McDonald comes with  front kick. Lineker loads up and misses. McDonald plants a left. McDonald sticks a jab. Wow. Lineker comes in and bombs McDonald with an overhand right. McDonald gets up but is sent back down by a left. McDonald is back up and is firing back. Lineker is just winging hooks. McDonald goes down again and that’s that. Damn. That was nuts.
