Following Gegard Mousasi’s impressive win over Vitor Belfort earlier this month, the middleweight isn’t going to face a top five ranked contender next, instead, he’ll reportedly take on a familiar foe.
MMA Fighting.com is reporting a source has informed the outlet that as a result of an injury to Gunnar Nelson, the UFC has booked a rematch between Uriah Hall and Mousasi for November 19th. Nelson was supposed to face Dong Hyun Kim at UFC FN 99 on that date, which will go down in Belfast.
Mousasi (40-6-2) battled for the first time last September, and Hall (12-7) scored a comeback, stoppage win. Since then, however, Hall’s been defeated by Robert Whittaker and Derek Brunson, and is currently ranked #10 at 185.
Mousasi, meanwhile, has secured the #5 ranking thanks to consecutive victories over Thales Leites, Thiago Santos and Belfort.
So, it will be interesting to see how this fight unfolds. Mousasi turned to his takedowns and top game in their first bout to win the opening round, before he was taken out by the dynamic striker in round two.
