Gegard Mousasi has always insisted that Uriah Hall’s victory over him shouldn’t have happened, and the middleweight did his best today to validate that argument.
The fighters met in the headliner of UFC Fight Night 99, which took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Early on, Mousasi elected to stand and trade with Hall, but late in the opening round, he took the vaunted striker to the mat. From there, Mousasi punished Hall with right hands, and the fight was called.
Mousasi and Hall battled for the first time last September, and after losing round one, the latter stopped Mousasi in round two.
In the co-headliner, Steven Ray took on lightweight vet, Ross Pearson. The bout largely featured action on the feet, and although Pearson moved forward throughout much of the bout, Ray appeared to get the better of the exchanges. After the fight, Ray was awarded the split decision win.
The main card also saw Conor McGregor’s teammate, Artem Lobov, take on rising featherweight Teruto Ishihara. Both men landed some heavy shots during the entertaining bout, but Lobov landed more often, and won the via fight UD. After the decision was announced, McGregor joined Lobov in the cage to celebrate his teammate’s win.
