After Paige VanZant recently said she’d be willing to fight Ronda Rousey at 125 pounds, the strawweight star is making it clear she has nothing but respect for the former bantamweight champ.

A few days ago, TMZ caught up with VanZant, and the outlet asked her if she’d fight “Rowdy”. The Team Alpha Male fighter said she would, provided the fight took place at flyweight. VanZant is scheduled to fight Michelle Wateson this Saturday at UFC on FOX 22, and while speaking to the media, she was asked about her comments. Here is some of what “12 Gauge” had to say (quote via MMA

“It’s TMZ, they came up to me and asked me about that matchup and it’s like, how many times am I going to be asked that question before people realize we’re in far different weight classes?” VanZant said. “Now, I tell people I want to fight her, and all of a sudden it’s like the news of the year.”

“I have nothing but love for Ronda, I really do, I have nothing but respect for her and I hope she has a successful return,” VanZant added.

There you have it. The 22 year-old went on to say that she’s willing to fight anyone for the right amount of cash, and there’s no doubt that Rousey – VanZant would be a big draw. Will it ever happen? Chances are no. Rousey, who is scheduled to fight bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes on December 30th, has said she doesn’t intend to fight much longer.

UFC on FOX 22 will take place in Sacramento, California.
