UFC 208: “Jacare” Souza Explains Why Tim Boetsch “is Trouble”

Kelsey Mowatt

“Jacare” Souza will likely be a considerable, betting lines’ favorite by the time he faces Tim Boetsch at UFC 208, but the middleweight contender isn’t looking past “The Barbarian”.

Recently more than a few eyebrows were raised, when the UFC announced that Souza and Boetsch will scrap on February 11th. The reason being that Souza is currently ranked #3 in the middleweight division, while Boetsch is sitting in the #14 spot.

But, as Souza reported in the following days, he wanted to fight sooner than later, and none of the top contenders are available. Souza had been scheduled to fight Luke Rockhold in November, but the latter had to withdraw due to injury (although Souza has a different take on the situation).

All that aside, Souza is facing Boetsch next, and while some people may be looking past the match-up, the Brazilian star isn’t one of them. Recently “Jacare” spoke to MMA Junkie, and he had this to say about Boetsch:

“My opponent is trouble,” Souza said. “He has a very hard hand – it can make it difficult for any opponent. His hook makes it tough. He’s very strong and his wrestling is very good, as well. So to sum it all up, he’s trouble.”

Yup. As fighters like Yushin Okami, Brad Tavares, and Rafael Natal, among others, have learned, Boetsch can crack. Not only that, the former light-heavyweight has also showed a ton of heart in many of his outings.

UFC 208 will take place in Brooklyn, New York.
