Vitor Belfort Ready to Return to UFC in September

Vitor BelfortUFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort, who was forced to withdraw from a UFC 112 matchup with 185-pound champ Anderson Silva due to a shoulder injury, has announced that he’ll be ready to return to the Octagon in September.

Belfort (19-8) underwent surgery in February to repair a lingering should injury and was expected to be sidelined until the end of the year, but announced last month that he was recovering faster that expected and would return to action “very soon.”

“The Phenom,” a former UFC light heavyweight champion, made his middleweight debut in 2008 with a knockout of Terry Martin, then scored a first-round KO of Matt Lindland in Affliction last January before returning to the UFC in September with a first-round knockout of Rich Franklin at 195-pounds.
