Dana White Gives Update on Diaz Brothers, Says Nate Diaz Has Bout Offer

A lot of folks want to see Robbie Lawler and Nick Diaz throw hands once again, and while it sounds like “Ruthless” is up for the rematch, the latter apparently isn’t.

The two fought way back in 2004, and Diaz knocked Lawler out in the second round with a right hook. You’ve likely seen highlights of the finish now a bazillion times.

Well, Diaz said in the summer that he wasn’t interested in fighting Lawler again, and that apparently hasn’t changed. Recently UFC boss man Dana White told MMA Junkie the following:

“We just offered Nate Diaz a fight, and we’re waiting to hear back from him, so we’ll see,” White said. “These guys say they want a fight – I offered Nick Diaz two fights. He turned down two fights. I offered him Robbie Lawler. Robbie Lawler accepted the fight. Then I offered him Demian Maia. Nick Diaz turned down two fights. And then we just offered Nate a fight.”

Now, since Demian Maia has said he’s waiting for a title shot, one would think that bout wouldn’t have happened, even if Diaz was interested. You have to wonder what fight will get Diaz back in the Octagon? Since he’s coming off consecutive losses, one would think a title fight isn’t going to happen.

It’s also interesting to hear that Nate Diaz has been offered a bout. The Stockton fighter, like his brother, has also made it clear that he’ll only compete if it’s a big, money fight. After Diaz lost his second bout with Conor McGregor via decision, he called for a rubber match. But, that doesn’t seem to be in McGregor or the UFC’s plans right now.
