Former UFC Contender Kyoji Horiguchi Moves to Rizin FF

Kelsey Mowatt

Another notable fighter has departed the UFC for a different organization, as Rizin FF has announced it’s signed Kyoji Horiguchi.

Horiguchi certainly wasn’t on the chopping block, as a result of losses, as the Japanese fighter had won three in a row, since he lost via submission to flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson in 2015. But, the talented striker completed his UFC deal in November, after earning a UD win over Ali Bagautinov.

Now, the 26 year-old has opted to sign with the Japanese promotion, Rizin FF, and will make his debut in April. According to a follow up post from MMA Fighting, Horiguchi will take on Yuki Motoya, April 16th.

So, it’s a kind of surprising to see this, considering Horiguchi went 7-1 during his time in the UFC. But, that aside, it’s a nice signing for Rizin; no question.
