After failing to take the welterweight crown from Tyron Woodley at UFC 205, Stephen Thompson plans to step his attacks in their rematch next weekend.

Thomspon and Woodley fought to a majority draw in their first bout back in November, with one judge scoring it for the welterweight champ. Although Thompson landed some hard shots in the bout, the fight didn’t feature as many of “Wonderboy’s” vaunted kicks as normal.

In advance of the March 4th rematch, Thompson had this to say about their first meeting, and what he has planned for round two (quote via MMA Junkie):

“That’s how I normally fight, and my last fight I was very hesitant,” Thompson said. “I just got to go out there and fight like I normally do and just let it all out and don’t hold anything back.”

“Tyron’s an intelligent guy – you know he’s going to be making some adjustments,” Thompson added. “We’re both going to make adjustments to make this fight exciting and leave with that ‘W.’…

Some folks have questioned whether Woodley’s takedowns in round one, were a key reason why Thompson was hesitant in their first encounter. In addition, Woodley cracked Thompson with some hard punches, and appeared close to finishing the fight a couple of times. So, it’s going to be really interesting to see how each man approaches their second fight.

UFC 209 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the co-headliner, Khabib Nurmagomedov will face Tony Ferguson for the vacant, interim 155 title.
