After saying earlier this week that Strikeforce middleweight champ Jake Shields would “definitely” be coming to the UFC, White reiterated on Saturday that while negotiations have yet to begin, he’s “very confident” he’ll soon reach a deal to bring Shields to the UFC.
“The deal with Shields is that there’s some discrepancy whether it’s 45 or 60 days he has left on his (Strikeforce) contract,” White said at the post-WEC 48 press conference. “He can work that out with the knuckleheads (Strikeforce), and when he does, we’ll jump in there.
“I’m very confident that he’s going to be with the UFC.”
