“WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber” Fighter Salaries: Jose Aldo Tops $336K Payroll

Jose AldoWEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo earned $40,000 for his victory over former title-holder Urijah Faber in the main event of Saturday’s “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber” to lead the $336,500 payroll for World Extreme Cagefighting’s pay-per-view debut, according to figures released today by the California State Athletic Commission.

145-pound contender Manny Gamburyan scored $36,000 for his first-round knockout of former champ Mike Brown, while Faber and WEC 48 winners Shane Roller and Leonard Garcia each earned $28,000.

WEC 48 drew an official attendance of 12,555 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California for a $792,640 live gate, down from initial estimates of 14,144 fans and a $1 million gate.

In addition to the salaries listed above, which are simply those disclosed by the promotion to the athletic commission and not representative of a fighter’s total earnings, Garcia, Jung, Gamburyan, and Henderson each earned WEC-record $65,000 “fight night” bonuses for their performances at WEC 48.
