WEC 48 Medical Suspensions: Urijah Faber Sidelined Six Months

Urijah FaberFormer WEC featherweight champ Urijah Faber was among 11 fighters medically suspended by the California State Athletic Commission following their bouts at Saturday’s “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber” in Sacramento.

Faber was issued a six-month suspension for left thigh and knee injuries suffered in his main event loss to 145-pound title-holder Jose Aldo, who battered Faber with powerful leg kicks throughout the five-round headliner.

The complete list of WEC 48 medical suspensions included:

  • Urijah Faber: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by a doctor for left thigh and knee injury. Also suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons.
  • Mike Brown: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons.
  • Scott Jorgensen: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by a doctor for possible left metacarpal fracture.
  • Antonio Banuelos: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by a doctor for possible nasal fracture.
  • Leonard Garcia: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by a doctor for possible right hand fracture.
  • Chan Sung Jung: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by a doctor for right distal ulna shaft (forearm near wrist) fracture. Also suspended 60 days unless cleared by a doctor for facial laceration.
  • Anthony Pettis: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by a doctor for right foot fracture.
  • Brad Pickett: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by a doctor for left clavicle fracture.
  • Demetrious Johnson: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by a doctor for right thumb dislocation and fracture.
  • Rani Yahya: Suspended for 60 days unless cleared by a doctor for left eye laceration.
  • Brandon Visher: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons.
