UFC 210: Alexander Gustafsson Weighs-In on Who’s Going to Win Cormier – Johnson II

UFC 210

Considering Alexander Gustafsson has faced both Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson, “The Mauler” is probably a pretty good guy to ask about who’s going to win their UFC 210 rematch. The fact Gustafsson’s one of the best light-heavyweights on the planet, also makes him a seriously qualified candidate to weigh-on on the scrap….

Well, recently Gustafsson was asked for his thoughts on the upcoming fight at a presser in Stockholm, and he had this to say (quote via MMA Junkie):

“If one of those hands lands on ‘DC,’ it’s going to be a tough night. But at the same time, with Anthony, you’ve seen him dominate and you’ve seen him lose and get finished. What I know with ‘DC’ is he’s a tough guy. It doesn’t matter what you throw at him, what you give him in the fight, he just keeps coming forward. ‘DC’ will keep his belt that night, but it’s a hard fight to predict.”

Yup. Cormier has an outstanding chin and pressures with both his striking and vaunted takedowns. This is a big reason why Jon Jones, arguably the greatest fighter to date, is the only man to have defeated the reigning champ. But, Johnson is one of the most dangerous guys in combat sports, and only needs one direct shot. Just ask Glover Teixeira.

If you’re wondering, the betting lines have Cormier as a slight favorite heading into UFC 210.

Gustafsson fought Cormier in 2015 and lost via split decision. The Swedish star, however, was knocked out by Johnson when they squared off earlier that same year. Up next, Gustafsson will take on the aforementioned Teixeira on May 28th. The bout will take place in Stockholm.
