Welterweights Greg Soto and Nick Osipczak will look to bounce back from their first career losses when they square off at UFC 118, while The Ultimate Fighter 9 runner-up Andre Winner will face fellow lightweight Nik Lentz on the August 28 card in Boston.
Soto (7-1) lost his UFC debut in March to Matt Riddle after being disqualified for an illegal kick, while Osipcak (5-1), a castmember on TUF 9, began his UFC career with back-to-back wins over Frank Lester and Riddle, before dropping a split decision to Rick Story at UFC 112 last month.
After losing to Ross Pearson in the finals of TUF 9, Winner (11-3) has rebounded with wins over Roli Delgado in November and Rafaello Oliveira in March. Lentz (18-3-1) remained unbeaten in the UFC with a unanimous decision over Rob Emerson at UFC Fight Night 21, which followed a victory over Oliveira and draw against Thiago Tavares.
UFC 118 is headlined by lightweight champ Frankie Edgar’s first title defense vs. former title-holder BJ Penn, while the card also features a matchup between lightweight contenders Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard as well as Randy Couture vs. James Toney.
