Paul Taylor will not make his lightweight debut against John Gunderson at The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale as expected, as newcomer Mark Holst has instead been tapped to face Gunderson at the June 19 event in Las Vegas, according to MMAjunkie.
Taylor was slated to drop to 155-pounds against Gunderson at UFC 112 in April, but complications from his weight cut forced the bout to be canceled. Though the reason for Taylor’s removal from the upcoming card is unknown, it is likely he failed to be cleared for the contest.
Gunderson (22-7), an IFL veteran, had a three-fight win streak snapped with a unanimous decision loss to Rafaello Oliveira in January in his UFC debut, while Holst (8-1) enters the UFC on a three-fight win streak that includes a second-round submission of Corey Hill in March.
The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale is headlined by Matt Hamill vs. Keith Jardine and also features the finals of TUF 11’s middleweight tournament.
