Perry took on veteran Jake Ellenberger at UFC Fight Night 108, and after a competitive opening round, he KO’d the wrestler with a devastating elbow. The win returned Perry to the win column, following a decision loss to Alan Jouban in December, and moved his UFC record to 3-1.
After the vicious stoppage, Perry was asked about the champ Woodley, and here’s what “Platinum” had to say (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I’ve seen Tyron Woodley on many occasions, and he believes in me,” Perry said. “I think he believes I’m coming to see him, and I am.”
Now, prior to this weekend’s action, Perry wasn’t ranked in the top 15, while Ellenberger was tied for the #13 spot. So it remains to be seen if Perry will moved into the rankings. Obviously the welterweight division is one of the more stacked in the UFC, so it will be interesting to see who Perry faces next, and how he performs.
The outspoken fighter also had this to say about his win over Ellenberger:
“When I throw power, man, people go down,” Perry said. “That’s the way it’s always been. I looked right at him. I didn’t even feel the elbow. It was so smooth, so swift. It just breezed by like the wind. … I wished him goodnight.”
What about a scrap with Donald Cerrone next? That sounds about right no?
