“Paul Daley is done. I don’t [care] if he’s the best 170-pounder in the world. He’s never coming back,” , UFC President Dana White announced at the UFC 113 post-fight press conference.
After finishing the fight on top of Daley, Koscheck stood to celebrate but Daley returned to his feet and connected with a single punch before referee Dan Miragliotta could interven.
At the post-fight press conference, Koscheck said he and Daley, who had traded numerous verbal jabs leading up to the fight, were exchanging words in the final seconds of the bout and Daley eye gouged him several times before the sucker punch.
Daley (23-9-2) ends his UFC career with a 2-1 record inside the Octagon, while Koscheck will rematch welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre after appearing as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter 12.
