The final fight of Vitor Belfort’s storied career will likely go down against Nate Marquardt.
Combate is reporting that Belfort and Marquardt have verbally agreed to fight on June 3rd at UFC 212. The upcoming card will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. MMA Fighting is also reporting that Belfort – Marquardt is planned for UFC 212.
Belfort (25-14) was taken out by Kelvin Gastelum in March, which was the 40 year-old’s third straight, stoppage defeat. Afterwards, the Brazilian star said his next bout would be his last, unless the UFC introduced a “legends” division (which isn’t going to happen).
The 38 year-old Marquardt (35-17-2) is also coming off a loss, as he lost via UD to Sam Alvey in January. The well travelled vet has gone 2-3 in his last 5 bouts.
UFC 212 will feature featherweight champ Jose Aldo taking on interim champ Max Holloway in the main event.
