It looks like Renan Barao’s run in the UFC’s featherweight division is over after just two bouts.
According to a recent report from the Brazilian outlet Combate, Barao has decided to return to the bantamweight division, where he once held UFC gold. Following the Nova Uniao fighter’s second loss to TJ Dillashaw in 2015, Barao moved to 145. Since then, Barao dropped a decision to Jeremy Stephens and most recently, he scored a UD win over Phillipe Nover.
But, according to the aforementioned report, Barao is carrying less weight on his frame these days and plans to return to 135.
So, it will be interesting to see whether this happens, and how Barao looks at bantamweight once again. He certainly had a ton of success in that weight class, but Barao also had issues making the weight.
