UFC Fight Night 109 is underway in Stockholm, Sweden, and in the main event, Alexander Gustafsson will take on fellow 205 contender, Glover Teixeira.

Jack Hermansson vs. Alex Nicholson
Hermansson scored a nicely timed takedown early on into the bout. After Hermansson moved into mount, Nicholson gave up his back and started eating punches from above. After Hermansson landed a couple of hard elbows too boot, the fight was called. One sided win for Hermansson.

Oliver Enkamp vs. Nordine Taleb
Enkamp fired off some highlight reel kicks early on, but Taleb found the mark more often with counter punches and leg kicks. Round two saw more of the same, and later into the frame, the action spilled to the floor. From the top position, Taleb landed some shots from above, although, Enkamp get busy looking for submissions and sweeps. Taleb continued to press forward in round three, and scored a takedown with less than two minutes left. Enkamp worked with a rubber guard, but Taleb defended well, and maintained the top position until the final horn.

Omari Akhmedov vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan
Akhmedov landed a couple of takedowns in the opening round, but Alhassan was able to get back to his feet both times. Before the round ended, both welterweights winged hard punches, but neither man landed flush. Alhassan came out firing big right hands in round two, but Akhmedov countered nicely with a TD. Alhassan got back to his feet, but again, his forward pressure was met with a takedown. As the second round ended, Akhmedov was landing strikes from above. Alhassan cracked Akhmedov with some stinging rights in round three, but once again, the latter took the fight down. Alhassan got back to his feet, but was unable to land any fight ending shots before the final horn went.

Ben Saunders vs. Peter Sobotta
Sobotta decked Saunders with a big left early on, which momentarily sent the latter to deck. Saunders recovered, and pressed forward for much of the round, until Sobotta floored him again with a left. The rounded ended with Saunders working the rubber guard. In round two, Sobotta stunned Saunders with another booming left. Saunders stayed on his feet, but several moments later he was dropped again by a knee to the chin, and the fight was called. Impressive win for Sobotta. After the fight, Sobotta reported that he broke his hand earlier in the fight.

Misha Cirkunov vs. Volkan Oezdemir
Both men came out winging hard punches. As Cirkunov flurried in, Oezdemir landed a short right to the ear of the light-heavyweight, who went down hard. After a couple of follow-up shots, the fight was called. Huge win for Oezdemir.

Alexander Gustafsson vs. Glover Teixeira
Gustafsson came out circling and landed a couple of nice uppercuts early on. Teixeira took Gustafsson to the mat, but the Swedish star rolled out, and back to his feet. Teixeira took an accidental poke to the eye not long after, and after a break, continued to fight. Gustafsson continued to pepper Teixeira with strikes from the outside in round two. Gustafsson landed a spinning elbow, which stunned Teixeira, and the latter took more shots in the ensuing flurry. Not long into round three, Gustafsson sent Teixeira to the deck with a vicious combo. Gustafsson proceeded to punish Teixeira with elbows from above, but the latter got back to his feet. In round four, Gustafsson continued to pick Teixeira apart with punches and kicks from the outside, but to the Brazilian’s credit, he kept moving forward. In the fifth frame, Gustafsson finally put the game Teixeira away, as he sent the contender to the floor with a series of uppercuts and a finishing straight right. Beautiful performance by Gustafsson.
