Bellator 19 Results: Soto Stops Saraiva; Hornbuckle and Askren Advance to Welterweight Finals

Joe SotoBellator featherweight champion Joe Soto remained undefeated on Thursday in the main event of Bellator 19 in Grand Prairie, Texas, stopping Diego Saraiva in the first round of their headlining non-title ‘super fight’.

After exchanging on their feet early, Soto took the fight to the ground and went to work from top position, grinding away with ground and pound before an elbow opened a deep gash on Saraiva’s forehead late in the frame. Saraiva survived the round, but once the cut was looked at, the doctor halted the bout, earning Soto the TKO victory.

In welterweight tournament action, Dan Hornbuckle scored a first-round kimura of Steve Carl to advance to the 170-pound finals, where he’ll face Ben Askren, who earned a unanimous decision in his rematch with Ryan Thomas.
