It looks like August will no longer include a pay-per-view offering from the UFC…
The promotion has announced that its inaugural, September 9th card in Edmonton, Alberta will now be UFC 215, rather than UFC 216.
It was reported previously the UFC was hoping to hold a PPV card on August 19th, in Seattle, featuring flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson (who is from the Seattle region). But, this was before the all-star, boxing bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor was booked for August 26th, and before Johnson and the UFC started to battle over his next bout.
Really, this seems like the move to make. After all, UFC 213 goes July 8th and then UFC 214 will take place on July 29th. So, that’s expecting fans to come up with a lot of cash for what would have been four PPV cards in a span of two months. Not to mention that Canelo Alvarez – Gennady Golovkin is set for September 16th.
