Conor McGregor has repeatedly made some bold predictions for his bouts in recent years, and has often been right, and that evidently isn’t about to change…Even though he’s about to make his pro-boxing debut against one of the greatest boxers of our generation, if not ever, in Floyd Mayweather.
As you surely know, McGregor is going to box Mayweather on August 26th, in what will be the latter’s 50th fight. To date, no one has defeated Mayweather in the pro-boxing ring. Even before the bout was finalized, McGregor said he was going to shock the world, and more recently, he’s been taking the pre-fight trash talk up a notch.
“I stopped doubting Conor McGregor a long time ago.
“Last night I landed at LAX and Conor landed at the same time from Ireland. We both landed at the same time and I was waiting for him to get out of the plane. He gets off a flight from Ireland, looks like he was just fitted at Armani, walks off the plan and says, ‘I will knock this man out within four rounds.”’
Within four rounds huh? That is indeed a bold prediction. Of course, McGregor boosters will note that they call the Irish star “Mystic Mac” for a reason.
If McGregor were to KO Mayweather in less than four rounds, it would undoubtedly go down as the biggest upset in boxing history. If you read what observers are saying from within the boxing world, the consensus is that Mayweather’s going to cruise through the UFC champ. In fact, there are plenty of people from the MMA community who believe that as well.
Really, if McGregor goes 12 rounds with Mayweather, it will send a shockwave throughout boxing. If he loses a tightly contested decision, or rocks Mayweather at one point, many will view it as an unofficial win for McGregor.
