It looks like 2017 will not unfold without Cody Garbrandt competing, as the bantamweight champ hopes to defend the 135 title in November.
The rising star hasn’t fought now since he took the belt from Dominick Cruz last December, via unanimous decision. Garbrandt was scheduled to fight TJ Dillashaw at UFC 213 last month, but “No Love” had to pull out due to a back injury.
Garbrandt was recently contacted by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, and the champ relayed he’s “feeling a lot better”, and that he continues to rehab his back. In terms of his next bout, however, Garbrandt said he wants to fight in “MSG”. UFC 217 is set to take place at Madison Square Garden, November 4th in New York City.
So, don’t be surprised if Garbrandt – Dillashaw gets booked for that card.
