There’s been claims that Floyd Mayweather wants nothing to do with wearing lighters gloves when he boxes Conor McGregor, but according to reports, both camps are requesting just that.
According to an initial report from Sky Sports (via Boxing Scene.com), and a follow up report from MMA Fighting, the Nevada State Athletic Commission will vote on August 16th, if the fighters can wear 8-ounce gloves. Since the fight is going to be contested at 154 pounds, Mayweather and McGregor are currently booked to wear 10-ounce gloves.
So, it will be interesting to see what the NSAC rules. Since both fighters are requesting the change, if the NSAC deems that the fighter’s safety won’t be significantly compromised, the change could be made.
