UFC on Versus 2 Officially Moved to San Diego, Poor Ticket Sales to Blame

UFC President Dana WhiteUFC on Versus 2, the UFC’s August 1 Versus-televised card headlined by Jon Jones vs. Vladimir Matyushenko, has been officially moved from Salt Lake City to San Diego, the UFC today announced, with UFC President Dana White saying in a press release that poor ticket sales were to blame for the move.

“Our television ratings in Salt Lake City have always been strong, and when we finally found the opportunity to bring a UFC event there with a great card, I was very surprised and disappointed in ticket sales,” said White. “As a result, for the first time in UFC history, I decided to pull the plug and move this August 1st event to the San Diego Sports Arena.”

Tickets for UFC on Versus 2 at the 19,000-seat San Diego Sports Arena go on sale this Friday, June 18, while refunds are available at point-of-purchase for previous ticket holders.

The UFC on Versus 2 fight card also features Mark Munoz vs. Yushin Okami, John Howard vs. Jake Ellenberger, and Joe Stevenson vs. Takanori Gomi
