Luke Rockhold Delivers Another Stiff Warning to GSP, Tells Latter to Drop Out of UFC 217

Luke Rockhold clearly isn’t resigned to the fact that Georges St-Pierre is going to fight Michael Bisping at UFC 217, in fact, the middleweight champ’s doubled down on a recent warning he made.

Rockhold returned to the Octagon last night, for the first time since he lost the 185 crown to Bisping last June, and tapped David Branch out with strikes. Leading up to the bout, Rockhold repeatedly trashed the Bisping – GSP fight, and more recently, he warned the latter he’s going to get “crushed” by the new champ.

Well, if you thought at his point, Rockhold might layoff blasting the November 4th scrap, guess again. If you missed it, following his win over Branch last night, here’s what Rockhold had to say to GSP (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“GSP. I don’t know what I need to do,” Rockhold said. “You want me to beat some sense into you? You don’t belong here. You’re gonna get crushed. You better back out. Get out of this thing while you still can. This is my fight. This is my fight and I’ll be there sooner than you motherf**ker. Let’s go.”

“I’m ready to go. I got no injuries,” Rockhold added. “I’ll be ready for November. Don’t embarrass yourself GSP, just back out, let me take this thing. It’s my fight.”

Wow. It will be interesting to see what GSP’s reaction is to these comments, if he does respond. The former welterweight champ has said one of the reasons he wants to fight Bisping is because he wants a serious challenge in his comeback bout. Of course, that doesn’t change the fact that GSP’s been tapped for a title fight, at a weight he’s never competed at in the Octagon. That hasn’t sat well with Rockhold, any several other middleweight contenders.

As it stands right now, however, Rockhold will likely have to compete again, before he gets another shot at the belt. The winner of Bisping – GSP is expected to fight Robert Whittaker, who is the interim champ at 185.
