Following his decision loss to Andre Fili this past weekend, it looks like Artem Lobov’s thinking about changing things up and making a move to boxing.
Lobov recovered from a head kick that sent him to the floor earlier on in the UFC Fight Night 118 contest, and pursued Fili throughout. But, Fili also scored several takedowns during the fight, and won via unanimous decision.
“I wouldn’t mind chancing my arm in boxing. I do know I have a contract with the UFC. I’ll talk to them. I’ll ask them, would they release me maybe, and allow me to take a few boxing fights?”
“Paulie wouldn’t be a bad fight” said Lobov, when asked about possibly fighting Conor McGregor’s former sparring partner, and now rival. “I know he’s after big paydays. He’s retired, so he might not be interested in a fight against me, but if he was I would be all for it.”
It will be interesting to see if the UFC grants Lobov his wish. But, considering the rugged featherweight is now 2-4 in UFC action, they just might.
