UFC Fight Night 119 is underway in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and in the main event, Lyoto Machida will take on fellow middleweight contender, Derek Brunson.

John Lineker vs. Marlon Vera
Vera came out with a steady stream of kicks, while Lineker turned to his heavy / infamous hooks. Round two saw more of the same, but continued to outscore Vera, in terms of damaging shots. Vera stepped up his attacks in round three, and likely took the final frame, but it was too little, too late.

Jack Hermansson vs. Thiago Santos
Santos had Hermansson looking for the clinch / takedown early, after landing a hard kick to the body. Hermansson was unable to get the fight down, however, and Santos moved ahead by winning the striking exchanges. Then, moments before the opening round ended, Santos dropped Jack Hermansson with a punch and brought about the stoppage with follow up shots.

Jim Miller vs. Francisco Trinaldo
Both lightweights winged big lefts early on, but Miller scored a nice takedown and spent much of the opening round on top. Trinaldo tagged Miller with several hard punches in round two, and landed some ground-and-pound shots, after defending a guillotine choke. Trinaldo continued to press forward in round three, was the busier fighter and landed more strikes.

Rob Font vs. Pedro Munhoz
Font marked Munhoz up early with a crisp jab and hard rights, while the latter fired away with leg kicks. As it started to look like Munhoz might need to take the fight down, he stunned Font with a big left hook. Font shot in, and was met with a fight ending, one-arm-in, guillotine choke. Great win for Munhoz.

Colby Covington vs. Demian Maia
In round one, Maia cut Covington by his right eye by repeatedly scoring with his left hand. But, the latter continued to press forward and punished Maia’s lead leg with kicks. Maia shot in numerous times on Covington in round, but was unable to take the experienced wrestler down. Both men looked gassed, particularly Maia. In round three, Maia was exhausted, and Covington’s output was higher. After one of Maia’s failed, takedown attempts, Covington opened a big cut on the Brazilian contender.

Lyoto Machida vs. Derek Brunson
Brunson came out as the aggressor, and Machida looked to counter, as usual. Machida just missed the mark with a couple of counter lefts, but then he was sent to the deck with a big left hook from Brunson. The latter proceeded to knockout Machida out with shots from above. Crowd was absolutely silent. Wow.
