Paulo Costa vs. Johny Hendricks
Costa came out firing kicks at Hendricks, and the former welterweight champ had trouble finding his range or countering. Hendricks tried in vain a couple of times to take the fight down, but in round two, after Costa bombed away with punches, the fight was stopped. Hendricks was working on a single leg when the fight was stopped, but he didn’t seem to protest the fight being called. Impressive win for Costa.
Paulo Costa def. Johny Hendricks via TKO (punches) R2, 1:23
Jorge Masvidal vs. Stephen Thompson
It was a typical performance from Thompson, as the dynamic striker came with a steady stream of kicks and some nice punching combinations. Masvidal fired back with lots of leg kicks and winging right hands, but Thompson won far more of the striking exchanges. After the final horn, there was little doubt that “Wonderboy” would be awarded the win. Thompson reported he hurt his hand earlier in the fight.
Stephen Thompson def. Jorge Masvidal via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27)
Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Rose Namajunas
Namajunas dropped Jedrzejczyk not long into the bout, but it wasn’t completely clear if the champ was off balance when she took the shot. Jedrzejczyk got back to her feet, but not long after, Namajunas decked her with a monstrous left hand and then finished the deal with punches from above. A huge and memorable upset.
Rose Namajunas def. Joanna Jedrzejczyk via KO (punches) R1, 3:03
Cody Garbrandt vs. T.J. Dillashaw
Dillashaw featured a lot of feints early on, but shortly before the opening round ended, Garbrandt dropped him with a booming right. Dillashaw recovered, and in round two, he sent Garbrandt to the deck with a kick. “No Love” got back to his feet, but was floored moments later by a huge right hook. After Dillashaw poured down punches from the top, the fight was stopped. Dillashaw is the 135 champ once again.
T.J. Dillashaw def. Cody Garbrandt TKO (punches) R2, 2:41
Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre
St-Pierre kept Bisping at bay early on with a nice jab, and by mixing in takedown attempts. Bisping, however, kept moving forward, and started to land some hard shots. In round three, GSP scored another takedown, but Bisping opened him up with elbows from the bottom. Bisping got back to his feet, but was dropped soon after by a big hook. GSP fired down elbows from above, and as Bisping scrambled, the former welterweight champ sunk in a fight ending, rear-naked-choke. A glorious comeback for GSP.
Georges St-Pierre def. Michael Bisping via submission (rear-naked-choke) R3, 4:23
