After being submitted by Fabricio Werdum in just 69-seconds in the main event of Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum,” Fedor Emelianenko said that he made a mistake trying to finish the fight as quickly as possible and hopes to rematch Werdum, who shocked the world by handing the former top-ranked heavyweight his first loss in nearly 10 years.
“At the very beginning of the round I hit Fabricio and I wanted to finish as soon as possible, and at that moment I made a mistake,” Emelianenko said through his interpreter at the event’s post-fight press conference. “Certainly I would like to have a rematch with Fabricio. If he agrees, I would love to do that.
“I was made, kind of, an idol and everybody loses. I’m a normal human being like everyone else, and if it’s God’s will, next fight we’ll win.
