It looks as though Frankie Edgar’s quest to win the UFC’s 145 title has hit a roadblock, as it’s being reported the decorated fighter has been forced out of his December 2nd bout with Max Holloway.
The Brazilian outlet Combate was the first to report that Edgar has incurred a facial injury, and that he’ll no longer compete at UFC 218 as a result. Sources have told MMA Junkie that the former lightweight champ has suffered a fracture orbital bone.
As this is being written, it’s not clear as to whether the UFC is going to try to find a replacement opponent for Holloway or not.
Edgar was tapped for a bout with the featherweight champ, after winning consecutive fights against Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez.
UFC 218 will take place in Detroit, Michigan.
