Fabricio Werdum is booked to fight Marcin Tybura on Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 121, but the heavyweight’s in the news, due to a street altercation he had with Colby Covington.
The Brazilian heavyweight was filmed by UFC lightweight Dan Hooker arguing with Covington in Sydney yesterday, which is where Saturday’s card is taking place. At one point, Werdum throws what was reportedly a boomerang at Covington.
In addition, Covington posted a video which shows him arguing with Werdum, and calling the fighter a homophobic slur. Covington also claims that Werdum punched him during the altercation.
After Covington defeated Demian Maia last month, the brash fighter called the host city of Sao Paulo a “dump”, and Brazilian fans “filthy animals”. Covington has refused to apologize for the comments, and in the video below, he directed more disparaging remarks at Brazil.
